I heard a sound like massed choirs in Heaven singing, Hallelujah! The salvation and glory and power are God’s— his judgments true, his judgments just. He judged the great Whore who corrupted the earth with her lust. He avenged on her the blood of his servants. Then, more singing: Hallelujah! The smoke from her burning billows up to high Heaven forever and ever and ever.
The Twenty-four Elders and the Four Animals fell to their knees and worshiped God on his Throne, praising, Amen! Yes! Hallelujah! From the Throne came a shout, a command: Praise our God, all you his servants, All you who fear him, small and great!
Revelation 19: 1-5 MSG
It was going to be one of the best days of his life. David smiled as he thought of his bride. She was beyond beautiful. She was his queen. She was perfection in his eyes. No matter what others thought or felt about her. He would finally have full blown rights to call her his own.
The knock on the door caught his attention, distracting his line of thoughts and he turned to see his big brother, and friend, walk in. No doubt he was proud and joyous.
The joy within him couldn’t be held back. Just his saying those two words had that profound effect on him. It bubbled up from within. He stood firm, his back to her as she walked down the aisle to join him. He couldn’t wait to see how she looked. Of course it was the usual white wedding gown, she had been so excited when she called to tell him months ago that she had found the perfect dress.
But then it was beyond that.
“Oh David, It’s really beautiful! I had tried on like six dresses before I saw this.”
He smiled inwardly at her excitement. Glad she was happy.”I can’t wait to see you in it. I’m sure it would look lovely on you love. I’ve been waiting for this day all my life.”
“You know, it’s really not the dress that gets me so excited. It’s the thought that I can be with you for the rest of my life. I think that’s more exciting.”
When David first met Sarah at a soup kitchen, giving out food to those in need. She had stepped up to him with her plate and he took it from her, not being able to hold back from staring at her beautiful brown eyes. There was something about her, as if she had seen a lot of terrible things in her life. It was her whispered words of ‘thank you’ and the tears of appreciation in her eyes that tore his heart.
He had sought her out when he was done serving the others. She was seated alone from the rest. Eating her food one bite at a time, as if savoring it.
What if she doesn’t want to talk to me? Not letting himself dwell on the thought, he walked up to her and sat a few feet from her.
“Hi. I’m David. What’s your name?”
She looked at him, curiosity etched on her face. Probably wondering why I’m disrupting her meal. She sniffed and whispered, “Sarah.”
“Sarah. That’s a beautiful name. It reminds me of a great woman in the bible. So what’s your story?”
“My story?” She blinked, looking uncertain. “I don’t really have much to tell. My life has just been full of ups and downs and troubles. There’s really nothing good about my life and I don’t think there ever would be anything.”
David wanted to tell her it was a lie of the devil. That she was born to be a priest and joint-heir but he kept quiet; wanting to listen more than speak.
“My mum and dad passed away some years ago. My aunt and her husband want nothing to do with me. I have been on my own for so long that I don’t bother wishing for company. I don’t dare dream for a future where things could be different. This is who I am. This is my life. . . To drift from one place to another in search for whatever I can get. I guess I’m satisfied.”
He couldn’t believe she believed the lies. God didn’t want her to be satisfied with the disappointments of the past or her current life as if nothing good could happen. And David believed his reason for coming was for her. God had sent him to her to deliever the good news.
And he had done so.
He faced her now . . . His bride. His wife. She looked beautiful! So different from where he first saw her. So different from the shy girl who was now a confident woman. A woman confident in God’s love for her.
God, thank You.
Revelation 19:6-8 MSG
Then I heard the sound of massed choirs, the sound of a mighty cataract, the sound of strong thunder: Hallelujah! The Master reigns, our God, the Sovereign-Strong! Let us celebrate, let us rejoice, let us give him the glory! The Marriage of the Lamb has come; his Wife has made herself ready. She was given a bridal gown of bright and shining linen. The linen is the righteousness of the saints.
Sarah let out a breath. This was one of the happiest days of her life. Who would have thought she would find a love so wonderful as this? She had never thought of marriage in her future. Not even the distant future. This was just surreal. She had longed to see the face of her beloved. The only one who could love her so much that he picked her out of the dumps. Saying he saw the beauty in her way before she got cleaned up.
God, why me? Why do you love me so much to give me this sort of man? What have I done to deserve such grace and kindness? Why did you draw me out of the dumps?
I have chosen you to be his. I love you with an everlasting love.
The words resonated in her heart and filled her with joy. She smiled at David. Gosh, he looks so handsome in his white Tux. Elegant and refined. There was no doubt she was crazy in love with him and she knew her love mirriored in her eyes as he looked at her. Indeed this was the day the Lord had made and she would be glad in it.
The Marriage supper of the Lamb comes soon. It would be a glorious day when we come face to face with our Lord and Saviour and be joined to Him forever. Will you be there? Would you be counted worthy to attend? Only those who are faithful to the end would come for this glorious wedding. Only those who have submitted themselves to Christ and have followed His leading all through. Only those who have accepted Him as Lord and Saviour.
If you would like to surrender your life to Christ repeat these words: Dear Jesus, I confess You as Lord and Saviour over my life. Forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. Accept me as Your child. Thank You Lord, in Jesus name I’ve prayed, Amen.
Love Quote: I take you, my beloved Saviour. To be Yours forever. You are my Lord. You are my life. You are my everything. Your love is sweeter than anything.
Bible Quote for the Day:
The Angel said to me, “Write this: ‘Blessed are those invited to the Wedding Supper of the Lamb.’” He added, “These are the true words of God!”
