Loving In Hateful Times

Happy New Month. I pray this month that lines would fall upon you in pleasant places.

I was having a discussion with a friend of mine and we broached the topic of marriage. We spoke of the possibility of a man sticking to one woman. We spoke on how so much is changing in the world and how we Christians are gradually accepting the world’s precepts as ours. How marriages these days are getting many blows and it seems like marriages aren’t holding much water for people any-more.

In truth, alot of things are changing. Gay marriages have been legalised, bombings are happening in different parts of the world, spouses are killing each other… Times are getting hard just as it was written in 2 Timothy  3:1 AMP, “But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].”

And it went on to explain how as a result of all the hard times people would change. . .

2 Timothy 3: 2 – 5 KJV, “3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

What is happening to Love? Where has all the love gone? Are vows just mere words spoken just to get married to the man or woman of your dreams? Or do we intend on keeping them?
Should we hate those who treat us bad and just ’cause times are changing we should adapt our ways to it?

It pains my heart to see how marriages these days are crashing. As Christians we should stand up for the truth which is the Word of God.  We shouldn’t forget we are ambassadors of Christ and this world is not our own.

Let’s not stop communing with God and reading our bibles.  Let’s not stop praying for each other, for Christians facing persecutions all over the world and for our country.

In this month of June we would be talking on loving in hateful times and encouraging each other to keep going even when things are hard.
