LWEIM 3: Living your life as an Offering to God.
How should we behave as Christians?
I don’t know if you’ve heard how people have turned away from the church, or not bothered to hear us Christians preach the gospel just because of what a Christian did to them or how they behaved towards them? Have you? I have. And it makes you ask what exactly did they do or how did they behave to let people have such wrong misconceptions about us?
Truth is, we may have answered the call to accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour but do our lives tally with that calling? Are we truly living changed lives or still following with our old patterns and attitudes?
Today’s series looks at the practical aspect of living a godly life. Now that you have turned away from sin and have decided to live your life in accordance to God’s way how do you do that?
I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Romans 12:1-2 AMPC
Living your life as an offering to God is something you do daily.
Do we still live out lives as people of the world do? You face difficulties, trials in this life and now that you have decided to live for God it seems the trials have become more. You have to say NO to certain things you said yes to back in your old way of life.
We have to renew our minds to what we once thought was right and begin to see things the way God does.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord .
ISAIAH 55:8 AMP
1) WALKING IN THE WORD
Studying the Word and learning what God expects from you. Living your life according to the Word and not just reading it.
2 Corinthians 5:20. We are Christ’s ambassadors. How we live our lives should lead people to God.
2) WALKING IN LOVE
God was teaching me some days ago. You know there are times people annoy us so much that we just feel those people are difficult to love? God was telling me if I walked in love it wouldn’t be so hard. Instead of arguing about the person needing change I should look inward and see if I needed the change first.
3) WALKING IN THE SPIRIT
If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.]
Galatians 5:25 AMPC
There’s no way we can live our lives as God wants without having His Spirit in us. He gives us the power needed to live.
♡ Bible Quote for the Day;
But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do.
Galatians 5:16-17 AMPC
