God, do you see me? Or am I just existing? Life happens. Disappointments arises. Discouragement comes; and it’s more painful when it comes from the ones you trust. Then the lies come, whispering you were and can never be good enough. In a world where the pressure is on to be noticed and accepted, you …

About the Book: @sarahagertywrites unfolds the t About the Book:

@sarahagertywrites unfolds the truths found in the biblical story of Mary of Bethany to discover the scandalous love of God and explore the spiritual richness of being hidden in him.

Every heart longs to be seen and understood. Yet most of our lives is unwitnessed. We spend our days working, driving, parenting. We sometimes spend whole seasons feeling unnoticed and unappreciated.

In Unseen, Sara Hagerty suggests that this is exactly what God intended. He is the only One who truly knows us. He is the only One who understands the value of the unseen in our lives. When this truth seeps into our souls, we realize that only when we hide ourselves in God can we give ourselves to others in true freedom--and know the joy of a deeper relationship with the God who sees us.

God's invitation is not just for a season or a day. It is the question of our lives: "When no one else applauds you, when it makes no sense, when you see no results--will you waste your love on Me?"

****

🌺 My Review/Lessons:

In her book, Sara Hagherty shares how her work for God made her feel validated and worthy, but as she continued with the work she lost sight of the 'walk'. She came to a point where she spoke about God and His love and her life no longer lived out that love. A point where she had to ask herself if she really believed the Words of God.

I penned a lot of things but here's a few of them:

🌟God delights in you as an individual before you took up His calling upon your life. In as much as God wants you to do something for Him (winning souls, giving to the poor, using your talent to serve Him etc.) He wants You more.

🌟 Study Scripture with a desire to know God and not just out of obligation or to increase your Biblical knowledge.

🌟Seek God's approval more than anyone else. Because man doesn't approve of you doesn't mean you're insignificant to God.

🌟 There is growth in the secret. Just like roots sink in deep beneath the ground and taking up nutrients, hidden from the world... So also there's growth staying in God.

This is a beautiful book. One I had to read at a slow pace for the words/teachings to sink in.

Reposted from @diademscommunity It's not bookish Wednesday but it's faith Sunday, so it's a good day to review this Christian Romance Novel.

Now you know where it pinches by @topeomotoshowrites

This is a sequel to the book With these shoes I thee wed.

It's a continuation of Toke, Mayowa and Jadesola's stories.

As is usual with @topeomotoshowrites books, the spiritual lessons are outstanding.

Toke's story stood out for me because her struggles are common to many women.
Waiting for the fulfilment of God's promises can sometimes be a bumpy ride.
Also, trying to figure out your identity in a marriage and struggling to align with your partner's vision when the unexpected comes up is a major cause of rancor in marriages.

Now you know where it pinches reminds us that even marriages centred on God's will has it ups and downs but in all things you must learn to rest in God and always remember you are a team.

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow
...
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12

Whether married or single, we all have desires and many of them are valid. We have milestones we want to achieve within certain timelines but we must learn to rest in God; you know, learn the unforced rhythms of grace.

God always comes through.

I enjoyed reading this and even though the part of Jadesola's legal brouhaha came off a tad sensational, I love that it was well researched.

If you love Christian Romance Novels, you should read this.

I don't think I can ever forget the day I gave my I don't think I can ever forget the day I gave my life to Christ. Same way I don't think I'll ever stop talking about the life-changing experience and awe-inspiring moment when I got a deeper understanding of God's love which led to me writing #onceuponafirstlove (It doesn't mean I don't struggle with insecurities and self-doubt from time to time.)

I constantly have to keep alive my relationship with God and keep cultivating it. Remind myself that I can be vulnerable with God, exposing myself to His scrutiny and summoning the courage to see my true self and those parts of me that's not of Him and needs to be purged out. He wants to know me and my weaknesses. He loves it when I can trust Him with my heart.
.
.
These days I have enjoyed the sweet romance of sitting at His feet and just talking to Him about any and everything. Listening to His words of comfort and encouragement. Chastisement and gut-wrenching truth. Journaling my thoughts and feelings.

God's love is sweeter than honey🍯. His love is over and beyond. Simple to understand but still indescribable. You see, when you realise God loves you... Everything you do for Him comes alive with deeper meaning. Your speech, your behaviour, your work for Him, is constantly being worked on to make you more like Christ. Your relationship with God comes alive with a deeper meaning when you have a glimpse of His love for you.

Even in the Message version, the Psalmist called God's love exquisite.

How exquisite your love, O God! How eager we are to run under your wings,
Psalm 36:7‭MSG

Focus on God's love for you.
Let Him be first in your life.
You may be discouraged at how things are going right now, (I encourage you to tell Him about it) but know His plans and purposes for those who love Him.

This book is a sequel to a book I read earlier in 2020 titled ‘With These Shoes I thee Wed’ and it was interesting to see some of my favorite characters once again. The story is centered around two main characters and friends, Jadesola and Toke. Jadesola is a successful lawyer, Christian and is ready to tie the knot with Mr. Right when she finds him. With several experiences of dates and relationships that didn’t work out, she decides to take her friend’s advise and try online dating. Surfing through the dating site, she finally meets the man of her dreams but he lives in far away Canada and they are both unsure if this “friendship” will not lead to a dead end.

Toke on the other hand is trying to adjust to the new life of being a pastor’s wife while managing her thriving business. This is not the life she thought she would have with Mayowa and her frustrations begin to put a crack in their otherwise loving relationship. This story seamlessly portrays the struggles of a young Christian couple in ministry as they face several challenges and the life of a typical single Christian woman who is waiting for the one.

I found this book very interesting and captivating. In the first book, I didn’t really like Jadesola’s character but this book showed her growth as a person and a believer and it was refreshing to read. It was also good to see Toke and Mayowa’s journey as they navigate through married life. As someone who has been married for over 16 years, I could relate to some of what they were going through and I am eager to see how all this will end in the third book. Christian fiction has always been a tricky one for me but I must confess that Tope Omotoso does it so well that I always leave her stories with valuable lessons for myself or others.

I really enjoyed reading this book as the writing was very fluid and it kept me hooked.
