Living with Eternity in Mind 4: Living a life of love Loving is hard. Let’s be real with eachother. Yes, there are times when the love is ‘shacking’ you and you feel like you’re floating in the air and nothing could possibly go wrong. Everything is just too sweet! Yeah, that happens. But guess what? …

This book is a sequel to a book I read earlier in 2020 titled ‘With These Shoes I thee Wed’ and it was interesting to see some of my favorite characters once again. The story is centered around two main characters and friends, Jadesola and Toke. Jadesola is a successful lawyer, Christian and is ready to tie the knot with Mr. Right when she finds him. With several experiences of dates and relationships that didn’t work out, she decides to take her friend’s advise and try online dating. Surfing through the dating site, she finally meets the man of her dreams but he lives in far away Canada and they are both unsure if this “friendship” will not lead to a dead end.

Toke on the other hand is trying to adjust to the new life of being a pastor’s wife while managing her thriving business. This is not the life she thought she would have with Mayowa and her frustrations begin to put a crack in their otherwise loving relationship. This story seamlessly portrays the struggles of a young Christian couple in ministry as they face several challenges and the life of a typical single Christian woman who is waiting for the one.

I found this book very interesting and captivating. In the first book, I didn’t really like Jadesola’s character but this book showed her growth as a person and a believer and it was refreshing to read. It was also good to see Toke and Mayowa’s journey as they navigate through married life. As someone who has been married for over 16 years, I could relate to some of what they were going through and I am eager to see how all this will end in the third book. Christian fiction has always been a tricky one for me but I must confess that Tope Omotoso does it so well that I always leave her stories with valuable lessons for myself or others.

I really enjoyed reading this book as the writing was very fluid and it kept me hooked.

I remembered a few parts from the book (maybe 'cause I'm working on something relating to it😁). You will find out in due time.

In the meantime, what are your favourite quotes in the book?

"...sad as it may be, my pains don't change Him but He changes my pain. He turns my mourning into dancing."

“I love to dance. I took ballet
classes in school, but didn’t go far with it. Something about
standing on your toes and trying to find balance unbalanced
me.”

"But
in this life there’s only one dance partner you need; and that’s
God. Let His Words be the music singing over us as we dance
through this life."

So what's yours? 😁

The one thing I was hoping for in this book was a deeper exploration of some of my favourite characters from book one and let me tell you that the author did not disappoint me. In my first review, I had already expressed that my favourite character was Mayowa so when I read the blurb of this book and didn't see his name in it, I didn't think he was going to appear much in it.
.
It was however a pleasant surprise to find out that the book actually has four points of view. I enjoyed this book a lot more as I thought each point of view gave us a greater insight and understanding of the characters' fears, weaknesses and strengths. I loved that we could see the growth of the characters in this book which is a lot more than in the first book.
.
I loved that the author threw these characters into a whole new world of challenges which stretched their faith and challenged them in more ways than one. It was a very gripping story and once I got into it, I could not put the book down as I just wanted to know what happened next.
.
I loved that we could see both sides of the coin--a married couple, and someone who was single. I loved how the author explored the marital struggles especially when it comes to ministry. I loved the recurrent theme throughout the book which was dying to ourselves, and learning to surrender to God's will for our lives. I also loved the emphasis on not ruling out endless possibilities, and not limiting the hand of God in the way He works. It was beautiful to see how everything unfolded because for majority of the book, I could not predict what would happen next (which is a good thing).
.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves contemporary Christian romance. It doesn't matter if you're married or single. I think the lessons in this book are for everyone. The third book in the series is in the works and to be honest, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

📚 About the Book: . . “I used to be a lesbian 📚 About the Book:

“I used to be a lesbian.”

In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?

At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel.

Read in order to understand. Read in order to hope. Or read in order, like Jackie, to be made new.

💮My Review/Lessons:

There are so many things to love about this book. Her openness. Her insights. It was refreshing to read this book. Jackie opened up about her dealings with homosexuality. She spoke about how a good God came to her rescue even when she didn't know she needed to be saved.

It particularly taught me God doesn't want a part of our heart. He wants it all. God doesn't want to help you with just your problem while you think yourself capable to solve the rest; He wants us to rely and trust in Him in all matters.

Jackie's heart opened up to who God is and not just what others have said about Him. She had a revelation of God and His love and goodness. Same way we receive these gifts at new birth, and your transformation is from the inside out.

I love how she admitted to struggling with her sexual feelings from time but laying hold of God's grace to see her through. It's a lesson that, even when we come to Christ all our struggles may not instantly disappear. We have to keep trusting in God to deliver us.
