Bible Study on Ephesians

Hi fam! How was your weekend? So no story or discussion today. I have the need to share this bible study with you all. Dont worry the stories and discussions would still continue. If you have something bothering you that you want us to discuss here just send me an email @ [email protected]

So we would start a study on the book of EPHESIANS. I would also share some of what I’m learning on our bible study group with you all in the course of the study.

Brief Introduction on the book of Ephesians: It’s a letter of encouragement written by Paul, while in prison, to the Christians in Ephesus as well as many other believers in neighbouring churches.

The book of Ephesians is so important to new believers, and should also serve as a reminder to Christians, because it talks of our identity and the benefits we have in Christ.
PAUL, AN apostle (special messenger) of Christ Jesus (the Messiah), by the divine will (the purpose and the choice of God) to the saints (the consecrated, set-apart ones) at Ephesus who are also faithful and loyal and steadfast in Christ Jesus: May grace (God’s unmerited favor) and spiritual peace [which means peace with God and harmony, unity, and undisturbedness] be yours from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm!

Ephesians 1:1‭-‬3 AMPC

The book kicks off  giving a brief introduction of Paul who was formerly Saul. He played a major role in persecuting the Christians until Jesus appeared to him and he then became a believer. You can read more about him in Acts 9.  He was called by God to preach the gospel to the Gentiles.

Paul starts of by calling the saints faithful and loyal and steadfast in Christ.

Note: Can people say that about you?  Most importantly, can God say that about you?
Then we have benefits when we are in Christ. We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm. What are these blessings?

– Gift and Fruit of the Holy Spirit

– Grace and Peace and so on

Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love. For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [because it pleased Him and was His kind intent]–

Ephesians 1:4‭-‬5 AMPC

This shows salvation is totally dependent on God since the bible says ‘He chose us. We are not saved because of our works or because we deserve it or we earned it. And a beautiful thing is before His sight, no matter the wrongs of our past, He sees us as His precious sons and daughters as if we never did wrong.

Here’s Preye’s Teaching on Ephesians 1. Preye is part of the WhatsApp Bible Study on Cradle2Success.

Ephesians 1: 3-13,  talks about a lot but if I could talk about it for I’ll give it a title that says promises/benefits from the union with Christ.  My bible version is Good news translation and ‘union with Christ comes up three times.
Benefits of our union with Christ:

1. God has blessed us by giving us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly world vs3

2.God has already chosen us to be His. So that we would be holy and without fault before Him. Vs4

3. Through Christ He would make us His sons and daughters v5

4. By the blood of Christ we are set free, our sins forgiven. Vs7

5. By believing in Christ, God put His stamp of ownership on you by giving you the Holyspirit He promised (Hallelujah! )

The devil is truly a liar. He makes we believers doubt who we are in Christ. We are stamped. Owned by God. May God give us more insight into this.
Can we all ponder what this:

What does it mean to have the stamp of ownership by God?
6. Through our faith in Him we have the boldness to go into God’s presence with confidence. Confidence my family is everything we need. I’m doing a personal study on the man David and one thing struck me. . . David is a man of confidence. Confidence that comes from Confidence in God. As believers we should get our Confidence game right.

Remember when he fought Goliath?  It was confidence in God. Does our actions, words and attitude portray this in our every day life?

David knew his God. He knew his God like the air he breathes. Can we say the same of ourselves? The first chapter in Ephesians is a refresher of the awesome benefits we have with our union with Christ. The Goldmine we sit on, the potentials we never explore out of ignorance/fear/unbelief/spiritual blindness or whatever we call it.
Pauls Prayer. Ephesians 1:17-19.
This prayer…

This prayer…
Vs 17 (GNT- Good News Translation) That God gives us the spirit who will make us wise and reveal God to us, so that will we know Him. (Believers don’t know their God and that is why the devil messes with us!)
Vs 18, That our minds may be opened to see his light so that we will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people and how great is his power at work in us (too many prayer point in this!)

If as a believer you struggle to know who you are in life, sink into Ephesians 1.

If as a believer you struggle with confidence and self esteem, take Ephesians 1 morning and night for a week and thank the Holyspirit later😁😁😁

Vs 19. . . and how VERY great is his power at work in us who believe. The power working in us is the SAME as the mighty strength

Vs 20, Which he used when he raised Christ from the death and seated him at the his right side in the heavenly world.

Should I say more?

Vs 21-23 talks about the great great power and authority Christ as.

May the Lord open our eyes to see how glorious we are as Christians.  May our eyes be opened to see all we have at our disposal. May be step up from the Mediocre,  powerless Christians we are to all God has created us to be.

We should take our time and study more about our union with Christ, who our God Him, and who we are only then would we be shaking and taking territories.

Prayer points:

-Ephesians 1:17-19

-Lord teach me confidence your way.

You aren’t Born-Again? Just say this prayer believing in your heart,

Dear Jesus, I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that you are the Son of God. Please forgive me of my sins. Please come into my heart and make it your home. I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Said the above prayer? Email me @ [email protected]

So that was just Ephesians Chapter 1, we would continue chapter 2 nextweek after you have let this chapter soak deep within you😊. Please drop comments and contributions. Ask questions. And please share with others. God bless you!
