God's Love/Love,Marriage

For Better For Worse

Good morning fam. Hope you had a fab night. Happy new month!  Happy birthday Chidinma Frances! God bless you sis!
I believe this month is going to be a glorious month for us all. This month we would be studying on love and having contributions from amazing people of God . . . So stay tuned.
Here’s an old post I thought to share with you all. Enjoy!

“. . . For better for worse . . . In plenty and in want . . . In joy and in sorrow . . . In sickness and in health . . . As long as we both shall live.”

When couples on the verge of being pronounced husband and wife take their vows and come to the part of better or worse, in good and bad times, do they really consider those moments at all? Do they  really take it into consideration that there would be some tough times ahead?

Or are they just traditional words spoken?

I can tell you that while I took these vows. I knew the severity of those words. Was I scared? Yes! Taking those vows hold me down to this handsome man God gave me as my husband. *wink*

Obviously no one wants any bad thing happening in their marriage. Couples may pray and fast and ‘kabash’ (speaking in tongues) that no evil or no bad thing would come. But let’s face it . . . Storms do happen.

How can one keep such a vow in the midst of the storm? How do you remain faithful? By trusting God and holding onto Him in prayers. By relying on His grace to remain faithful. By Commitment. Your level of commitment to the relationship determines your staying-power.

But now I look at these words in relation to our relationship with God as Christians. How would you define your relationship with God? We love Him in the good times and praise Him . . . What of in the bad?

God showerd us with blessings, gifts, promotion and other goodies and we boldly say, ‘I will serve this God, I love God, I will follow Him to the end.’

Can we equally say such when things are going bad and there’s a huge storm in our lives?

Can we shout out loud and proclaim our love to God in the bad times?

Can we say we love Him when things don’t go the way we want them to?

Would we still stay by His side?

Your level of commitment to the relationship determines your staying-power.

Things and people around us may be in the negative, but let’s remain positive and trust in God.

He has promised in His word that He would be with us, Isaiah 43:2 (KJV) ‘When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.’

Romans 8:35 (KJV), ‘Who shall seperate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?’

He has made His commitment to you… what about yours?

Peradventure you might have stepped away from God, why not renew your faith in Him? It’s not too late. Run back to Him and make that decision to be with Him . . . No matter what.

Ready to make that decision just take this prayer:  Dear Lord, I return to Your love. Have mercy on me. I confess You as Lord over my all. I believe You died on the cross for me and I ask that You make me one of Yours, in Jesus name Amen.

If you just said that prayer send me an email @ [email protected] and we’ll chat.

Love you all!

    1. Hi Grace. I’ll send you an email now.

  2. We all want the Good, Better and Best part of marriage but we don’t want the Bad, Worse and Worst times. Nobody prays for it either. I feel for every state in our lives we need God. However, we need him more when we are into a lifetime relationship with someone.

We need great virtues and God’s help through turbulent times. Great piece Temitope!
