Living with Eternity in Mind 4: Living a life of love
Loving is hard.
Let’s be real with eachother. Yes, there are times when the love is ‘shacking’ you and you feel like you’re floating in the air and nothing could possibly go wrong. Everything is just too sweet! Yeah, that happens. But guess what? Life happens as well and there are times when it’s not so easy to love. In those times you just want to give up and forget you ever loved or thought of loving that person.
Truth is some of us have a wrong conception of what love is really about. Loving is not just about the good times but also about the bad times. The difficult times. Check my post here on what love is.
Different situations arise and make it hard. What if you’re told to love someone who splashed dirty water on you early in the morning while on your way to an interview? It’s not that difficult right? What about someone that looks down on you and disrespects you? What about someone who cheated on you and with someone close to you? Or what if you’re told to forgive and love someone who probably raped or abused you? Now it’s getting hard.
Loving in those situations can be hard, and yet the Bible tells us to love and love those that hurt us.
Luke 6:27 KJV, But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
Personally, I find loving at hard times not easy. I mean there are times that people annoy and hurt me and I would be like, ‘God, must I really love this person?’
People treat you in a certain way and you just don’t want to give them face again.
But I have to calm down and take a deep breath and take it easy. The Bible says I should love and so I must. But it’s not easy for me to do it so I rely on the Holy Spirit to guide me.
As Christians, living for God we have to be intentional. We have to love ’cause it’s what we are called to do and that’s how God knows we are truly following Him.
But he who keeps (treasures) His Word [who bears in mind His precepts, who observes His message in its entirety], truly in him has the love of and for God been perfected (completed, reached maturity). By this we may perceive (know, recognize, and be sure) that we are in Him: Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.

I was listening to Joyce Meyer the other day and she spoke about us loving, that if we could love it would solve a lot of the struggles/issues we have in our daily lives and make it easier to live the life God expects of us.
Don’t run up debts, except for the huge debt of love you owe each other. When you love others, you complete what the law has been after all along. The law code—don’t sleep with another person’s spouse, don’t take someone’s life, don’t take what isn’t yours, don’t always be wanting what you don’t have, and any other “don’t” you can think of—finally adds up to this: Love other people as well as you do yourself. You can’t go wrong when you love others. When you add up everything in the law code, the sum total is love .

Love is the solution!
We are in the end times and the Bible let’s us know the love of many would wax cold. Gradually, we may see loving as a waste of time and effort but as Christians we shouldn’t think that way. People would hurt us. People would annoy us, but we should rely on the Holy Spirit to help us love as we should.
Luke 6:32 KJV, “For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.”
Like Joyce Meyer said (can’t remember where right now), we have to love on purpose!
