When You Look Down On Yourself And Feel You Aren’t Worth Anything, You Doubt God.

When You Look Down On Yourself And Feel You Aren’t Worth Anything, You Doubt God.

Shola heard their loud laughter as she sat at her desk. It reminded her of her horrid past. They were doing it again. They were laughing at her and looking down on her. Shola could tell even if they weren’t saying anything right at that moment. She knew what they were thinking. The other day she had heard her friend tell her other friend how dumb she was, Shola was beginning to think that she really was dumb and worthless . . .

We may have gone through different things in our lives; things from our past that probably haunt us and make us feel bad about ourselves . . . Even when we have come to Christ and gotten to know how much He loves and cares about us . . . We still feel unloved.

I can personally tell you that I have felt that way on different occasions. I would relive the past in my present and think I’m not good enough, not smart enough. Then my elder brother would tell me how much I was doubting God’s love for me and His presence in my life, and I would agree with him.

Why is it so hard for me to trust and believe what God says about me, but easy to take the words of other human beings? Why is it so easy to believe when people say you aren’t good enough when God thinks and says otherwise? Why? Because we are yet to fully grasp what God says about us and how much of value we are to God, ‘cause we are also yet to love ourselves.

Jesus gave us the commandment to ‘love our neighbours as we love ourselves.’ How can we love our neighbours when we haven’t learnt to love ourselves? When we haven’t learnt to accept who God made us to be and who we are in Christ?

Doubting God isn’t only about not believing what He has done for us or not believing He is possible to perform a miracle in our lives. It’s also not believing and accepting our inheritance in Christ and how much He values us . . . How much He loves us and what He thinks of us.

The devil so much wants us to doubt God’s love for us and who we are in Christ. That’s one of the reasons he tries to toss us to and fro and play with our emotions, but don’t believe his lies and don’t be easily swayed.

Gen 1 verse 31 (KJV) ‘And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.’

God looked at everything He had done and said it was good . . . And when He had made man, the last of His creation, He looked at it all and saw it was very good. No matter what anyone says to make you feel down, God believes in you and loves you. He says you are beautifully and wonderfully made. He says He has loved you with an everlasting love. Not a temporary love . . . But a faithful and an everlasting love.

So why do you feel you and I feel we aren’t good enough? We shouldn’t! And this is a battle we have to keep fighting everyday; keep fighting the lies of the devil that we aren’t worth anything.

Proverbs 23 verse 7a (KJV), ‘For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he . . .’

Our mind has a huge role to play as well, ‘cause it’s what we feed our minds with that we become. If we constantly allow our minds to be filled with negative, worth-less thoughts it would have a terrible effect on us. We would look into this later on.

One of the right things to fill our minds with is, ‘God loves you’ (personalize it). It’s good to reflect on it again and again whenever you may feel down, that God loves and cares for you and you need not doubt it.

You may not be where you want to be at the moment; keep pressing forward and don’t give up.

You may not have accomplished all the things you planned on accomplishing.

You may feel you keep failing God each and every time, and can never be what God wants you to be; nevertheless get up and keep going!

We are running a race and it’s not over till it’s over. God loves you and don’t you doubt it.
We would be doing a little study on discovering more of our value and inheritance in Christ in the next couple of weeks, as well as what our mind has to do with it.
Until then . . . Keep believing His love for you.

The Convention has started! Please make out time to attend. It’s very much worth it!
